Start: Begin by choosing your game engine! You MUST choose a text based engine, I'd recommend using Unity, Godot (My choice!), Unreal, or Game Maker Studio. Engines such as Scratch, GDevelop, or Construct 3 are unfortunately not allowed.

Next you'll want to come up with an idea and begin your project! I'd recommend writing down your ideas on a google doc or figma page before starting, but make sure to keep your idea SIMPLE, you need to finish it and the scope is bound to grow over the course of it's creation. Open up your editor of choice and start a new project. Here's a few guides for the engines I mentioned above:

The ONLY restriction on your design process is that the game must have a designated loss state, and must be able to pick up and play without saving, like an arcade game. Besides that, you can go as complex as you'd like! Heres some screenshots from my own Minigame, Orphbone!

Unfortunately, only your time spent programming in hackatime will be trackable, so time spent working on art or music will not count. HOWEVER, your time spent making art will not go to waste! Once the event is over, we will have a vote to determine our best designed games, and the winners will recieve a special prize, so put your all into it!

And congratulations! You're now on your way to being a game developer! Please check the Slack for more details, or if you need help with anything.
